Sunday, October 15 – 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church of Louisville, 1101 Cherokee Rd, 40204 – Actors Theatre is proud to announce a special, one-night-only reading of Robert Schenkkan’s newest play, Building the Wall, directed by Artistic Director Les Waters (Recent Alien Abductions, Macbeth, For Peter Pan on her 70th birthday), and co-hosted by the ACLU of Kentucky, Jefferson County Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, Fairness Campaign, Highland Baptist Church, Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Kentucky Interfaith Taskforce on Latin America and the Caribbean, Louisville Showing Up for Racial Justice and Mijente Louisville. This two-person cast will feature Drew Fracher, best known to audiences as the perennial director of Fifth Third Bank’s A Christmas Carol, and local actor and educator Kristi Papailler. Building the Wall plays on October 15 at 7 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church. Pam McMichael, Executive Director of the Highlander Center (2005-2016) and co-founder of Showing up for Racial Justice and the Fairness Campaign, will facilitate a post-reading conversation, with featured guest Sarah Nuñez with Mijente Louisville. A second performance is scheduled for students at Central High School.
Saturday, October 21 – 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Owl Creek Country Club, 12400 Osage Rd, Anchorage, 40223 – Democrats Unite! Fundraiser and Wine Tasting. Join other Democrats as we prepare for the midterm elections. John Yarmuth will join us from 5-6. Mayor Fischer will make an appearance. Bid on silent auction items for interesting experiences. $25 ticket includes appetizers and conversations with fellow Democrats. Cash bar available.
Experience the wines of John Bojanowski, a Louisville native who is now making organic wines in the south of France. John will be at the event pouring his wine and sharing his experiences as a winemaker.
$65 ticket includes five wine selections presented by the winemaker in addition to items listed for basic tickets.
